Do you have trouble falling asleep while on vacation? Are you constantly tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable? If so, you’re not alone. According to an independent study conducted by Wakefield Research, 63% of Americans frequently struggle to get a good night’s sleep while on vacation. The good news is that there are a few things you can do to fall asleep faster and get a good night’s sleep while you’re away from home.
Take a Warm Shower 90 minutes before Going To Bed.
A warm shower before going to bed can help you relax and prepare yourself for a good night’s rest. It also helps reduce stress and anxiety, which can keep you awake at night. So take a hot shower with Epsom salts or chamomile tea. You can even add some essential oils. There are travel sizes of all of these items so you can take them with you when you’re on the go.
Try the Military Sleep Technique.
The military sleep technique was used by World War II soldiers to fall asleep within two minutes. It involves relaxing your whole body, starting with your face muscles and working down to your toes. Once your whole body is relaxed, you should be able to fall asleep within minutes.
Create a Sleep Environment That Works For You.
Try creating a sleep environment that works for you. This means making sure your room is dark enough so that you can’t see outside, and turning off any lights that might disturb you. Also, make sure your bedding is comfortable and soft. This is typically not a problem if you’re staying in a hotel. However, if you’re traveling via a RV or Camper, you may have to do your googles on where to get short queen mattresses.
Personally, I implore you check out Ghost Bed. They offer luxury mattresses at affordable prices. Their mattresses are crafted with gel memory foam and are resistant to mold, bacteria and dust mites. Not only that, their mattresses are temperature regulated so you can stay cool no matter where you are.

Avoid Stimulants Like Coffee or Caffeine.
Stimulants like coffee or caffeine can keep you awake at night. These substances can make it harder for your body to release serotonin, a hormone that regulates sleepiness. Instead, try Cherry Juice, Chamomile Tea, Almond milk, or these other alternatives.
Practice Sleep Guided Meditation.
Sleep guided meditation can help you relax and fall asleep faster. There are many different guided meditations you can find online or in app stores. Just find one that resonates with you and give it a try! My personal favorite is: Sleep Talk-Down Guided Meditation Hypnosis for Sleeping by Jason Stephenson.
Listen to Calming Music.
Music can help you relax and fall asleep faster. It can also provide white noise that will block out any other noises that might keep you awake at night. There are many different types of calming music, so find what works best for you and give it a try!
Try Relaxing Exercises Before Bedtime.
You can also try relaxing exercises before bedtime. This will help you relax and prepare yourself for sleep.
Some good exercises to try include:
Yoga
Stretching
Pilates
