Almost a quarter of Canadians say they’d be willing to relocate outside of their province for work, but where would they go? Currently, many assume that Vancouver or Toronto are the top picks for future cities to live in, but they’re overlooking what may be the best province to move to for work.
This is why Alberta is an awesome place to relocate for work and what you can do once you arrive!
Why Alberta?
Alberta is a great province that has so much going for it. Not only is the cost of living incredibly low, but you can also get food and entertainment cheaper in Alberta than nearly any other province in Canada.
On top of this, the median income in Alberta is just $2,000 less than the national average, which may seem bad: but when you compare it to how much cheaper everything around it is: it’s worth it. Alberta has a lot to see and do and should be the place you consider moving for work.
Red Deer
Halfway between Edmonton and Calgary, Red Deer is a smaller city home to just over 100,000 people. This city is well known for its Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Museum and its split in half by the beautiful Red Deer River. Surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and full of incredible industry, this is a great place to work if you’re passionate about sports or about working with parks services. You’ll find an amazing work-life balance here that makes a living in a smaller city so worth it.
Edmonton
World-famous for the Edmonton Oilers, this city is a fantastic place to move if you have a lot of creativity and want to enjoy the feeling of being in a major city. Edmonton has huge ties to the communication industry and technology firms. Although the pay is a little lower than Toronto or Vancouver, this is an amazing place to start both a career as well as a new family. You’ll fall in love with Edmonton instantly.
Calgary
If you’re more interested in feeling like you’ve moved to the Texas of Canada: you’ll find it in Calgary. This city has tons of start-ups and is the heart of energy and fuel in Canada. The entertainment here is great as well; with the Calgary Stampede every year and the amount of available outdoor activities, you’ll never run out of things to do. Fortunately, Calgary homes for sale are also generally less expensive and give you a chance to buy land that you can grow into, ensuring this is a city you’ll want to live in for the rest of your life.
Moving For a Job Is an Awesome Idea
Whether you’re moving for a specific job or just ready to pick up and move anywhere that you can work: it’s a good idea to consider Alberta. This province has something for everyone and gives you the chance to start fresh and enjoy living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
